We believe that we have something very exciting and different to share with you. Blackfriars Bucknall is a vibrant and stimulating learning community of 120 young people from the ages of 16 to 21 with a wide variety of special needs.

Several of the students transfer from Blackfriars’ secondary department but many come from other local special and mainstream schools. They come because they want an adult learning environment which is rich and rewarding, one in which they can gain the skills and knowledge needed so on leaving they can lead a meaningful life in their local community.

We provide is a creative and flexible facility which is unique in this country and which other schools are visiting and trying to replicate. Current Facilities include:

Two I.T. Suites, Community Café, Community Shop, Performing Arts Studio, Design Studio, Fitness Gym, Sports Hall and Theatre, Swimming Pool, Manufacturing Studio and much, much more – please come and visit us.

In our most recent Ofsted Report March 2009 the inspectors graded this site as outstanding and wrote:

‘The provision meets students’ individual learning and personal needs exceptionally well because it is tailored around their ages and interests. They make excellent progress in all aspects of their development.’
